5-6-24 - Marcos Concrete has cleared the area and is creating a 10’x10’ cement landing at sidewalk level with a 6’ wide by 4’ tall stucco wall at the back of the landing. The wall is designed to support a water fountain and memorial plaques this Fall.
From this top landing, a six-foot-wide sidewalk passes between two trees and curves down into the basin. The 1:20 sloped berm supporting the sidewalk will be extended 1 foot on either side of the sidewalk with a 1:4 sloped apron on either side. The walkway ends at a 15’x15’ cement entry pad for the Dog Park.
When the concrete work is completed, the fencing contractor, Phoenix Fence, will install the fences and gates. This entry area has a typical Dog Park set of gates. One gate to enter and then 2 additional gates, one leading into the large/active dog area and a second gate into the small/timid dog area.
4-29-2024 - Construction has begun! The concrete contractor is on site and creating the sloped berm for placing the sidewalk. Forms will be created for the concrete and the concrete pour is expected Friday the 10th.
4-15-2024 -After making some required adjustments, we have received approval from the City of Mesa for the Dog Park Plan. Currently the plan includes a 10x10 landing at sidewalk level with a 6' wide by 4' tall stucco wall at the back of the landing. The wall will be used to post signage such as the dog park rules. In the future, the wall could support a water fountain/spigot and memorial plaques. A 6' wide sidewalk with a gentle 5% slope will extend about 60 feet south into the basin to a 15' x 15' cement pad. This pad will include the typical three gate entry system. An entry gate and separate gates for accessing the active dog area and the timid dog area.
Fencing will include two 20' access gates to accommodate the 20' wide city easement which runs north south through the middle of the basin. Visit the Dog Park Project page on this website for more details and the current plan.
